Web Developer, Designer, and UI/UX Addict
Hi, I'm Emory, and I am a Web Developer and Designer.
I hold a degree in International Relations from Indiana University Bloomington, and I have a passion for language and cultural exchange. So, you may ask yourself...what led her from a career in political science and liberal arts to one of the fastest-growing STEM fields out there?
Following my graduation from university, I worked in the culinary world for a few years. Enter: COVID-19. The industry began to change rapidly and I - like many others - began to realize that this could be the perfect opportunity for a change of pace. Eleven Fifty Academy came onto my radar through mutual connections to the program, and I decided jump in headfirst into their Web Development Bootcamp.
After completing Eleven Fifty's program in January of 2021, I had the opportunity to return to the school as a Learning Assistant. In this position, I mentored and tutored students, both one-on-one and in class, helping them to have a productive and exceptional experience during their time at Eleven Fifty. I was able to cement a deeper understanding of the concepts that I had learned throughout my time in the course, while also touching on all of the different technologies that my students implemented in their projects.
Following my time spent teaching, I feel confident enough to say that I am not only ready, but excited to take the next step towards becoming a full-fledged developer! I am eager to expand my knowledge of web development and design, learn new technologies, and work on new projects -- I can't wait to see what the future holds.
A static layout of a page on the Adobe website. This was created to not only improve my CSS skills, but also to test my ability to inspect a website and use the browser's provided tools to find assets and styling techniques.
A full-stack app that allows users to create stories and prompts, with the goal of ameliorating communication between writers and creatives. This was created with the goal of learning TypeScript and React Class Components/Lifecycle Methods, as well as reinforcing my ability to create, modify, and interact with my own API.
